Challenges to overcome within two months:
Timeline: November to December 2022, concluding before FC Barcelona’s match against Espanyol on December 30th.
Scope:
Removal of slabs in the affected area.
- Demolition of the outer ring and cantilever structures, including areas such as the former Health Assistance Center.
- Partial demolition of the third tier in the southern goal, which serves as a counterweight for structural stability.
Solutions:
Versatility and Flexibility
Demolition involves handling objects of various shapes and sizes, as well as lifting and positioning heavy loads. For all these tasks, our MultiLug Beam for cranes is the ideal tool.
Its multiple attachment points provide a wide range of possibilities for managing heavy structural elements. By evenly distributing the weight, it ensures total control, enabling the safe removal of old components and preventing structural damage when installing new ones.
Safety Enhancements
The Multi Lug beam reduces the risk of sudden shifts or load imbalance by uniformly distributing forces, enhancing the safety of both workers and equipment.
Precision and Stability
In tight or sensitive environments, precision is essential during demolition to prevent damage to adjacent structures.
Since this project involved the partial demolition of the Camp Nou, the work required meticulous accuracy to ensure no harm came to the remaining parts of the stadium. The MultiLug Beam excels in providing stable and controlled lifting of components, reducing swaying and minimizing the risk of accidental impacts.
Integration with Heavy Machinery
Demolition often requires the coordination of multiple machines. The MultiLug Beam integrates seamlessly with cranes, hoists, and other equipment, improving overall efficiency and coordination.
Long-term Impact
This phase marks a critical step in the comprehensive remodelling of the Camp Nou. FC Barcelona emphasized that these early actions are designed to “gain time on a complex and large-scale project”, facilitating the verification of construction processes and schedules for the next phases.
Future steps include dismantling the remaining structure and constructing new evacuation staircases and walkways. These upgrades are essential for ensuring the stadium meets modern standards for safety, comfort, and innovation.
Successful outcome:
We take immense pride in seeing our MultiLug Beam contribute to such a historic and ambitious project.
FC Barcelona’s commitment to excellence resonates with our mission to deliver high-quality, dependable solutions for complex structural operations.
We are thrilled to support Grúas Serrat and FC Barcelona as they reshape the future of one of football’s most legendary venues.
